On September 19th, the 4th Alber Sport Charity Golf Tournament began with a bang. After the cannon blast, golf was played for a good cause at Rinn, the 18 hole golf course close to Innsbruck. The donations went to the Charity “Wings for Life”, which furthers research into treating and curing para- and quadriplegia. Good weather and warm temperatures graced the 4th Charity tournament, led by Reinhard and Sabine Alber. Prominent guests from both athletic and business backgrounds took part.
Among the guests were the ski legend Günther Mader, Greco-Manager Dr. Zenz Oliver, Robert “Bobo” Alber, SCA president Josef Chodakowsky, representative Peter Mall, the Landeck business man Gerhard Weiss with Gattin Ingrid, Hotelier Karl Seeberger, the Landeck residents Carotta Christoph and Heinz Wucherer, Dr. Öhler Kurt and Herbert Alber. Ex-ski-flying world champion Armin Kogler had other commitments. The Alber Family beautifully organized the food and drinks. After the tournament, everyone met up in the clubhouse for delicious food served in a comfortable atmosphere. After the dinner, the traditional raffle with generous prizes was held.
Representative Peter Mall offered “A weekend with Günther Mader at the Arlberg” as a prize, wherein the Raiffeisen Bank of St. Anton secured the contract. The charity “Wings of Life” enjoyed a generous 11,000 €, as the sum of all the donations. Dr. Wolfgang Illek, formerly the fastest Austrian downhill biker and now himself paralyzed, accepted the check. Even the thunderstorm couldn’t bring down the enthusiasm of the Golfers, who celebrated a successful charity event.
